What is it?
The platform www.kinomap.com displays a lot of videos from all over the world filmed by cyclists equipped with GPS sensor cameras or Smartphones. With Kinomap trainer, you can connect your trainer or exercise bike to a geolocated video and watch the images synchronized to your scrolling speed.
The goal is to practice on your trainer or exercise bike while virtually travelling the world thanks to videos shared on the Internet by cyclists. This is achieved by a synchronized reading on a map. You can also measure your performance compared to the reference cyclist’s. You can use the actual rides on Kinomap trainer to train more intensively at home whatever the weather or just for fun while you are exercising.
You only have to fit an ANT+* sensor to the pedal of your bike or exercise bike and use an iPad type tablet to watch your move. The faster you pedal, the quicker the video moves. If there is a hill in the video, you will have to pedal harder on your bike to keep speed. You can read the speed and altitude which were captured during the video shooting on a graph and the journey is shown on a map which is available on terrain or satellite views.

Cadence
sensor
Paste this sensor on your exercise bike so that the pedal comes very close to it at each rotation. Choose your model of bike in the app so that your cadence data is transformed into raw power (watts) and then in speed according to the elevation profile of the video

Speed
sensor
Use either a pure speed or a dual cadence/speed sensor on your home trainer or rollers. Select your model in the list and the current resistance level. Your speed is then converted to raw power (watts) and then in speed according to the elevation profile of the video

Power
sensor
Use power sensors to send your very precise raw power (watts) directly to the app. This kind of premium equipment is avaliable from Powertap, SRM, Garmin (picture on the left), Quarq and Power2Max.

What's next?
We're working on a multi-player mode, using Apple Game Center and on a resistive trainer handling with manufacturers.
Right now the application is available on iPad but should be developed on other tablets.
